INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Pixwords! I'm a Washington DC native who in the mid-1990s added photography to my work in fulltime print journalism. Starting with travel photography and writing projects ("pixwords") I expanded to promotional work, portraiture, wedding candids, event coverage, documentary reportage and black & white fine art. The last two focused on the city's historic neighborhoods and notable sites.
My influences and heroes/heroines/teachers/advisors vary a lot. A few: Harry Callahan, Eisenstadt, Josef Sudek, Steichen, Joyce Tennyson, Wynn Bullock, David Wells, Arnold Newman, Charles Kogod, Leni Riefenstahl, Atget, the Westons, Lowell Kenyon, Theresa Airey, Jim Blair, Bob Krist.
